William B. Jones
“I was born in the Town of Sandwich on July 27th, 1930. I attended Western Public School for 6 years. I attended Sandwich High School (Forster) and graduated in 1947. On April 19, 1952, I married Shirley Hedrick. She passed away on November 4, 2007. My 2 biggest employers were Chrysler’s where I spent 14 1/2 years, 12 of them in the Data Processing Dept. In 1969, I went to St. Clair College where I worked until my retirement in 1993. I taught Computer Studies in the School of Business. We became the proud parents of 3 children, a boy and 2 girls. In 1972, I received a BA in Psychology/Sociology for the University of Windsor. In 1974 I received my MBA from Indiana Northern University in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I have spent many years as a volunteer in various organizations. Some are United Way, 32 years; Teen Health Centre, 9 years; St. John’s Cemetery, over 40 years and Sandwich Teen Action Group for a few years. I sit on 3 other boards and am the observer to the Board of Governors for the College Retirees Association. I sing in the choir at St. John’s Anglican Church and have written the works for about 18. anthems which our choir performs at Christmas, Easter and Remembrance Day. I play golf and have worked as a volunteer at Pointe West Golf Course for 26 years. I am 90 years old and attribute it to keeping busy and involved.”
Adam grew up near the West End of Windsor and has been aware of STAG and its impact for years. After working as a summer student with John years back, it was great for him to join the board later in life when the time was right, and with skills and time to offer the organization. He started off helping to coach STAG basketball for a few years and has now shifted to treasury duties, which aligns with his accounting career choice. Adam loves working with youth knowing that they will always be the future, and always be a great cause.
